What does Adblue do?

It helps to reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides, or NOx, from your car’s exhaust. It is only applicable to certain Diesel Vehicle’s that meet high european emmissions standards

As a rule of thumb, the more recently the diesel car was built, the more likely it is to use AdBlue, as the Euro 6 regulations were introduced in 2014.

Euro 6-compliant diesel Audi, BMW, Citroën, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz or Peugeot, are likely to use AdBlue technology.

Can a car run without it?

Your car needs AdBlue as much as fuel – so it won’t run without it! You’ll see a dashboard warning light when you have around 1,500 miles of fluid left in your tank.

What happens if you run out?

If it runs out while driving, the engine’s power and performance will be reduced to ‘limp home’ mode to limit its emissions. Once the engine has stopped, it won’t re-start until the AdBlue tank is refilled.
